A Bradford man has admitted responsibility for a collision in Ilkley that claimed the life of nursery owner Adrian Stocks three years ago.
The court heard that Mr Stocks, 59, was cycling along Denton Road in April 2023 when an Audi hit him. Emergency crews attended, but he died at the scene, close to the River Wharfe. He was a director of Cliffe House Day Nurseries, which operates several childcare centres across Leeds and Bradford.
The driver, 23‑year‑old Sohail Jahangir of North Avenue, Bradford, has now pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving. He is due to be sentenced on 22 June.
Judge Jonathan Rose, the Honorary Recorder of Bradford, told the defendant that a custodial sentence was inevitable. However, he said the exact term would be set only after a pre‑sentence report is completed.
